Your Energetic System

Nadis

A way to clear your body both physically and energetically (and achieve balance) is to awaken your Nadis.

Nadis System

Yoga and Ayurvedic Medicine refer to Nadis as your energetic system, comprising of thousands of energy circuits running through your body (see Diagram 1). You can imagine your Nadis as streams and rivers through the body – what keeps these rivers flowing is your Breathe (Prana), your main source of energy. When you consciously breathe into your body your energy can flow through. To get somewhat of an idea of what they do on a physical level the Nadis help to activate your nerves, blood vessels and fascial planes.

The Chakras are the energy centers connected by these Nadis (running along the spine). The Chakras are associated with the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and the automatic nervous system. Your Chakras help you to connect with your Higher Self and your Soul Path (for diagram see Energy Flow Chart).

​

So, to achieve optimum health and to awaken your Chakras your Nadis streams need to be awake and flowing.

​

There are three major Nadis: Feminine (Ida), Masculine (Pingla) and Sushumna (joyful mind).

Feminine and Masculine Energies

Nadis comprises of Feminine (Ida) and Masculine (Pingala) energies. In terms of where these energies are positioned the left-hand-side (LHS) and the back of the body represents Feminine and the right-hand-side (RHS) and front of the body represents the Masculine (see Diagram 2):

Below are some key descriptors on what comprises our Feminine and Masculine energies. As you’re reading these descriptions notice if one energy resonates with you or maybe you can sense that one energy needs some loving attention:

Opposite = Oneness

In many healing modalities (such as Yoga) you might have read or heard that these energies are broken down as polarities or opposites i.e., Sun (M) / Moon (F), Front (M) / Back (F), Above (M) / Below (F). Just know that these terms are teaching you to come back into balance.

To know the opposite of something helps to achieve homeostasis. For example, if you’re feeling sluggish or heavy within your body what will achieve balance is to feel lighter and mobile. You can achieve this through movement, eating lighter and drinking more water. Now the opposite to this example is that you’re feeling light on your feet, hypersensitive and overactive. What will achieve balance is to feel more stable and grounded; through actions like walking, meditation, and resting and making sure you’re consuming a good amount of wholesome food.

​

So, what we can see is that these are figurative terms to help you to feel Whole. There is no such thing as separation or feeling opposite or different. By getting to know your True Self you feel complete not different. And to feel this beautiful energy you must consciously give yourself permission.

​

And connection brings oneness.

​

Helping others is a form of connection and a very powerful gesture. The gesture of giving can give the receiver an opportunity to reconnect with who they Truly are.  For example, simply smiling to someone can have a profound effect to the receiver because you are acknowledging them for who they are.

​

When we balance our feminine and masculine energies, we activate the third and main Nadis; Sushumna (as referenced in Diagram 1). In essence Sushumna means Oneness with Divine Energy.

​

Awaken the Nadis

We can awaken our Nadis by consciously giving ourselves the love and nourishment our body and soul needs. Tune into your body and notice how its feeling. Notice places within your body that feels uncomfortable or stuck.

​

Your Feminine Energies

Our Feminine energy needs attention when we feel physical ailments through the back and LSH of our bodies. If these places in your body are feeling tight or uncomfortable, most likely you need to open up your feminine energy. If it feels weak or overused then strength needs to be built in these areas (so you can achieve balance and work with your masculine energies).

Below is a prayer and affirmation to open and heal your Feminine Energy:

​

Prayer: Divine Mother, I give myself permission to receive your love and nourishment. Heal my body, mind and soul with your Loving Light. And so, it is. Be it so.

​

Affirmation: I am Love and I honour my body, mind and soul. With this Love I create Loving environments and friendships. And so, it is. Be it so.

​

Please note: This prayer is also for those who feel they've used their feminine energy in excess as you're reclaiming your feminine energy and learning to balance giving and receiving.

​

Your Masculine Energies

Our Masculine energy needs attention when we feel physical ailments through the front and RSH of our bodies. If these places in your body are feeling tight or uncomfortable, most likely you need to open up your masculine energy. If it feels weak or overused then strength needs to be built in these areas (so you can achieve balance and work with your feminine energies).

​

Below is a prayer and affirmation to open and heal you Masculine Energy:

​

Prayer: Divine Father, I give myself permission to receive your Love and Wisdom. Release fear, illusions, false stories and beliefs from my body, mind and soul. And so, it is. Be it so.

​

Affirmation: My Heart is Open to receive guidance from my Highest Self – my True Source of Intuition.

​

Please note: This prayer is also for those who feel they've used their masculine energy in excess. As mentioned above with feminine energy you're reclaiming your masculinity (which many people will be feeling at this time) and learning to balance giving and receiving.

​

Further to this if you're feeling tight or restricted in the body grounding practices are needed i.e. walking, meditation and stretching exercises like Yin Yoga. On the other hand if you're feeling dense and heaving dynamic practices are beneficial such as active forms of movement that work the heart, eating lighter and drinking more water.

​

Meditation and Yoga are wonderful practices that can help to achieve balance with our feminine and masculine energies.

I know it can be confronting when it comes to acknowledging bodily discomforts - as it leads to confronting emotions that we keep hidden in the body. By doing the inner work you will be at peace within yourself – you will discover your True Self.

​

When you awaken your True Self, you begin to see more clearly, you’re in alignment physically, mentally and spiritually and you can begin to understand your Soul purpose (what you came here to do). This takes practice in which you build that self-disciple from within (not external) and this becomes True enjoyment. Maybe you will take that leap of faith and travel the world. Perhaps it’s time to let go of a job and discover your hidden talent as a writer. Time to have a family or relocate. This is how powerful it is to connect with your energy field.

​

We're living in exciting and yes challenging times, the World is shifting and evolving for the betterment of humanity as old systems begin to end - I will cover this in more detail in my next article which will reference Christ-consciousness and Ascension. We are now more connected than ever to our Spiritual Gifts and the Heavenly realm.
